Aluminium 2024-T6 is an ultra-tough, copper-bearing alloy renowned for delivering an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio combined with outstanding fatigue resistance. While the naturally aged T3 and T4 tempers are widely used, the artificially aged T6 temper is deliberately processed to achieve a significantly higher yield strength. This makes it the go-to material choice for critical, high-load environments where maximizing structural integrity and minimizing weight are absolute priorities.
Although the 2024 series offers remarkable mechanical performance, its copper content means it has a lower natural corrosion resistance than standard marine-grade or architectural aluminium. To protect against atmospheric exposure, Supreme Steel can supply this grade with premium surface protection or in an "Alclad" format. Despite its high hardness, 2024-T6 machines exceptionally well to a fine finish, maintaining a stable grain structure that guarantees reliability under immense stress.
